carrot catastrophe

*EDIT: After this all happened and the mess was cleaned, Ryan very casually said "too bad you didn't have your camera and take some pictures for your blog"...haha! I love my husband!!

A few months ago, I bought a 5lb bag of unpeeled, unprepared carrots.

After the 1/2hr it took me to peel, clean, and cut them all, I promised myself I would never do it again and go only with overpriced pre-packaged baby ones.

This past week I needed carrots for a super big humgo salad (enough for 25) and a baby shower veggie platter so I thought to myself "just buy the big bag Erin, you'll save $2 and they always taste better....everyone will be grateful."

I think everyone was very grateful, especially Ryan, because 10 minutes after he stepped in the door from work I needed him to fix the garabage disposal because it sounded a little, ohhh, clogged.

Five minutes after that, everything from under our sink was on the kitchen floor, which Phinley was licking.

And 30 seconds after that, chunky carrot water was spraying all over. It looked like someone had eaten a 5lb bag of carrots and heaved them back up everywhere.

At first, I was mad at Ryan for not being more careful and letting the carrot juice from who knows where...some pipe under the sink....go all over. Then, I was mad at myself for shoving 5lbs worth of carrot peelings down the drain before turning on the garbage disposal. Then, I was laughing at the whole situation because it just seemed absoultely ridiculous all while Phinley ran out of the kitchen with the end of the paper towel roll in his mouth.

Two days later we are still finding carrot pieces around our kitchen.
