let there be darkness

I've had a dilemma looming over my head since I heard Ryan mutter the words "....night shift..."

Night shift to me = Ryan sleeping during the peak bright hours of the day.

Enter, dilemma.

How on earth am I suppose to get our room dark as night during the middle of the day?

It doesn't sound too difficult, but it felt impossible! Nothing I bought to cover the windows seemed dark enough {and stylish enough!!}.

I initially bought these great black out panels. They were suppose to hide behind other curtains and keep the room black during the days he slept and pulled back to let the light in during the days he was at work.

They looked okay, but were a FAIL. Too much light peeked in around the top and edges. {I tried tensions rods and double hung rods}

Curtains are my worst worst worst nightmare when it comes to decorating!! Seriously....I have no idea what to do with windows!!

Luckily, my parents have a room in their house with these amazing panels that really blacken out the room. We could sleep all day when we go to visit.

So....I just copied off my mom and went to JCPenny to get the same ones :0) And as a super surprise bonus they were on a crazy sale...like $15 a panel!!

To Ryan's delight, he had to take down the rods he just hung up, patch the holes, and put up another rod!

THEN, he had to take the new rods down and put them up again, because they would look so.much.better. moved over 1/4 of an inch.

He loves doing projects with me :0)

Two days later they're up and we're loving them!!

They are quite a bit larger than the last set we had up and I think fill up the wall space better.

Whatcha think?

Yeah! I think the new curtains are a great improvement...not like the old ones looked bad...the new ones are just sharper. Looking good!
