Since I started running more consistently and seriously {about 2 years ago} I've competed in a 1/2 marathon, full marathon, and half-half marathon {relay style}.
I've failed to do what many, many of the training plans and running websites have encouraged new runners to do before a big race {ahem, marathon}: complete a few 5ks.
I laughed at the distance of a 5k {3.1 miles) and thought they were for wimps. Hahahaha! I love how I'm so naive sometimes and honestly, just a big scardy cat!
Deep down I always thought I would be to slow. I would finish last. I would be disappointed in myself.
When, with all the other races all I did was have to finish and no matter what place I came in it was good just to make it to the end! Does that reasoning make sense to anyone?? I'm sooo competitive it's disgusting {and a character trait I'm trying to tweek}.
So I did it. I signed up for my first serious 5K:
However with that FUN I do have a few goals I'd like to meet.
1) Get a picture with Mr. Pumpkin. How cool is this guy? {He better be there!}
3) Not feel like this when I'm done. Poor Charlie Brown.
If anyone has an extra pumpkin costume laying around and would like to dress up and cheer me/all the runners on please do!! I think the morning will be fun and seeing you will be just plain amazing :0)
I would make Ryan, but he's already signed up to run. hehe
