In Mexico I was hard core about protecting my skin with sun block, but I competely forgot about my lips!
I'm certain they were scorched by the sun the first day and the vaseline I used each day after acted more like baby oil on skin in the sun {burn!}, rather than providing any form of protection.
Over a week later they are still trying to recoup.
It's been rough. First it was both lips just dry and flaky.
Then, I got 2 splits on my lower lip. Every time I smiled it felt like someone was running a tiny razor blade over my lip....then they would start to bleed. If you've ever gotten one you know it's so painful! I didn't want to smile, talk, nothing that made me move my lips. No talking? Shocking...I know.
I basically duck taped a tube of vaseline to my hand so I could reapply over and over and over again to keep them moist and less likely to crack again {so painful!}.
I felt a little like a hypocrite reapplying all the time because several weeks ago I scolded some girls in 2nd grade for applying their Bonnie Bell lip smacker so much. At one point I told them to stop putting it on or their lips were going to fall off.
I hope mine don't fall off.
So the bottom lip finally healed and just 2 days ago I greeted a room full of 5th grades with a smile and 2 more cracks.....on my upper lip. This was getting out of control.
What more was I suppose to do? I was on my second tube of vaseline. Maybe invest in something better? It's not my fault I like a good bargain and at $.97 a tube it's hard to beat!
This weekend I just won't smile -- that always makes for a good atmosphere in the house.
We have some pretty big plans for this weekend.
Take note:
1) clean out the hair ball in our sink and tub
2) cut up vegetables
3) brush Phinley
4) watch Twilight and New Moon
5) go to library and get Eclipse
6) make bacon on our new microwave bacon cooker (I got it on sale for $5!)
We were also going to have to do the grocery shopping, clean out all the crap from under our bed, and scrub the bathroom floor, but I did those earlier this week. I wasn't sure we could handle that much fun in just one night and 2 days.
What are you doing this weekend?
