We thought that after a few days by the pool and on the beach, we might want to get off the resort for a few hours. There were a ton of excursions to chose from, but we opted for 2- 1/2 day trips -- one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
A van picked us up in the morning {along with 6 other people} to tour the Tulum ruins and visit Aktun Chen Natural Park.
Here we are waiting for our van!
The first stop was the Tulum ruins. It was interesting to see the old structures, but it was also hot and pretty crowded. I was glad we were only set to stay there for 2 hours! We did lots of walking, picture taking, and squashing bugs on our legs....gross.
This was our group for the day. Ryan and I hung out in the back most of the time :0)
The next stop was Aktun Chen Natural Park. This is where we spent the rest of our afternoon. When we got there it was around 1:30 and we were all starving! We thought we'd eat lunch first, then go zip lining, tour the caves, then snorkeling...wrong. In order to get to the small resturant/eating area we had to zip line there and then go through the caves.
I thought the other people with us might start start a protest right then and there {they were hungry!}, but I didn't mind....my hunger pains distracted me from flying mucho feet above the ground in the air!
The best part of zip lining was wearing these doctor like protectors on our heads. No helmet lice for me thank you very much!
Ryan getting his gear on!
After zip lining {4 lines in all} and walking through some very cool, dark, scary caves we got to eat lunch with some monekys, parrots, and very very friendly deer!
Next up was snorkeling in the caves...umm, no thank you.
If I wasn't going to snorkel in open clear blue sunny water, there was no way on Earth I would be caught dead doing it in a small dark cave.
While he was snorkeling, I chatted with 2 other ladies who weren't quite up for it either. Thank goodness I wasn't the only scardy cat! The 2 were actually down for a wedding the night before -- how cool! It was the mother of the bride and the bride's brother's girlfriend :0) It was small and just family, but still really neat! I love that idea {although, I really loved my wedding too!}
When we got back we were just exhausted. We had been used to laying around all day, so when we were actually on our feet doing stuff it was so tiring! haha
