I finally got around to making my Easter/spring wreath!
My Mom made one a few weeks ago and I just loved it! She lives in the south, so it's a little different style for around this area, but I don't care :) Southern charm is appreciated anywhere!!
She was gracious enough to buy me the supplies and ship them up so I could make my own -- thanks Mom!
What you'll need to make your own:
2-3 rolls of 10" deco mesh ribbon
1 work wreath base
1-2 spools of coordinating ribbon
scissors
ruler
You can buy as much or little ribbon as you'd like -- it's all about what you prefer. I had enough ribbon to make 2 wreaths with 3 colors in each. If you buy 3-10" rolls you will have enough for 2. Fun project to do with a friend!!
The final one that I have pictured below has 4 colors....you may only want to use 2!
First, I cut all of the deco mesh into 10" strips. They curl once you cut them :)
See!
Once you have all of your ribbon cut, you chose which color you'd like to twist on first. It's a good idea to chose the color that matches your work wreath. I chose to start with pink for the pink wreath base and green for the green base {you can see the wreaths in the background a picture above}.
Next you need to attach the deco mesh to the wreath base. Take a piece of ribbon, re-roll into a nice cylinder, fold it in half, cinch the center, and twist it onto the base {using the colored sprig}. One twist is all you need. You will be adding another color to this sprig and a piece of ribbon....so there's more twisting ahead.
I started on the back and then moved to the front of my wreath.
Take your next color, prep the deco mesh the same way as before, and attach it to each sprig the same way you did with the first color. You'll want to alternate the accent colors and put them here and there.
Once you start adding the other colors you'll really start to see your wreath filling up! Add the ribbon where you'd like -- I didn't add ribbon to each of my sprigs!
Fluff your mesh, hang, and enjoy!!
Here's my finished product :)
