Holiday Decorations

I knew that when we got back from Thanksgiving, Ryan would start his long hrs at TMI.

Since he wasn't going to be around much, I wanted to get the holiday decorations up so we could enjoy them a bit before he was out of the house and/or sleeping most hrs of the day.

I forced him to get the boxes out of the attic a week before Thanksgiving and pretty much had it all set up before we left!!

After we got all the decorations out and in their place it didn't seem like much. I figured it was because the basement was finished this year so we had to share all the holiday decorations between the basement and 1st floor.

One night when we were eating dinner, I mentioned to Ryan that it didn't look very Christmasy upstairs...not like last year anyways. I knew the tree had a big part of that, but there was also something else missing....then, he reminded me that the Christmas furniture was gone!

That was it! No more red and green plaid to go with the other holiday decorations! So now instead of being overwhelmed by Christmas colors, it feels a little bare. Maybe next year we'll have a nice balance :0)

I'll definitely add some decorations to our stash when I go shopping after Christmas -- it just seems wrong to pay full price for something right now when I can wait and get it 75% for next year! Ryan loves a good deal too!

Here's a peek at what we have around the house this year....

Banister going downstairs

Wreath on the door. I got this on sale last year!

I did buy these 2 towels at Target last week....they were on sale and matched perfectly!!!

The little tree I've had since college. It's gives off a lovely light at night in our foyer.

I decorated it with cinnamon ornaments I made last year!

The nativity Lynn bought me last year for Christmas! I love it!! It's a simple set up, but fits perfectly there. The nativity is so simple, I think it works.

Since the tree is downstairs and the Christmas furniture is gone (!!) I decided to decorate the table. I just wasn't sure what to do, but this is what I ended up with....I like it!

Aren't the Christmas balls in the middle fun?

I make sure Ryan and I always have placemats under our plates at dinner!! We're super careful not to spill!

It was hard to find a spot for all of the houses I have (thanks, Mom!) so I ended up chosing a few and putting them on this dresser in our basement. I need Ryan to build me a platform to put them on!

All lit up :0)

Our tree is a lot bigger this year! There wasn't near the kind of selection we had last Christmas...we're going to the place we went last year next year!

This is our first year with a fireplace!!

The pinecones on the top smell like yummy cinnamon!

The balls were Mom's idea, although I like to think that if I thought hard enough I would have thought of it too! I thought of the pinecones in the truffle dish on the fireplace!! haha
